Africa is a continent that is rich with in mineral and natural resources like gold,oil,potential solar energy,diamonds and so on.Why then is the continent lagging behind in economic development?These are some of the answers.
1) AN INHERITED "WAIT TO BE TOLD" MINDSET.The historic success story of a man from Africa besides running a bus company,a local store or a grinding mill was a good paying job with the benefits of a company car and a company house.This meant that people in Africa waited to be told almost everything by their boss or company top executives.They were never in charge of the overall economic landscape.To this very day many people in Africa wait to be told what to do by the World Bank,the IMF and the international community.With all the hot sun in Africa,there are people and governments who only regret not investing in solar energy in a time of electricity challenges.
2) LACK OF PLANNING.Africa responds to a situation at hand and does not plan in advance to avoid challenging times.
3) NO HARMONY OR ONENESS AMONGST PROGRESSIVE PEOPLE.The few people in Africa that are progressive have no sense of oneness or desire to jointly develop their own continent.
4) LACK OF TRANSPARENCY OR ACCOUNTABILITY.There is still a huge problem with transparency and accountability in Africa.There are many gray arrears where no one is supposed to ask any questions "or else".Many resources and profits are never accounted for.
5) A DEALS AND DUMPING GROUND.Africa has this reputation for the exploitation of it's own minerals without accountability and a zone for all kinds of dirty deals by local and international underground dealers.
6) LACK OF SELF CONFIDENCE.Many products have made it on the global scene because they are unique and Italian or Brazilian.The African people to a large extent have no confindence in their own unique quality products which are many,how then can anyone else have confindence in those self same products or even know anything about them?
